FAQs

  • Yes, we strongly recommend to prebook both bikes and train tickets as they often sell out. Please be aware that you need to book a separate ticket for the bike. (booked together with the train ticket for the person). This can be done on norwaysbest.com

  • It all depends on the day. We have a lot of bikes in our different rentals, so we try to move as many we can to Flåm on busy days. But on days with good weather or a big cruise ship we are often sold out.

So if you know you want to ride, we strongly recommend you to prebook.

  • It all depends on where you are planning on biking, and what you are used to.

For a short ride around Flåm or the downhill from Vatnahalsen/Myrdal back to Flåm the touring bike is our recommendation.

If you are planning to ride longer, or go up the valley we strongly recommend the electric bike as the Fjord landscape makes hills steep.

  • Luckily flat tires do not happen often, but even with anti puncture tires it could still be the case.

All our bikes come with a toolkit, spare tube and pump so you are able to fix it. On the route from Vatnahalsen we are not allowed to drive a car, so you need to be able to fix the tube if you have a flat.

If you are close to the rental don't hesitate to come back and change for a new bike if you do not want to fix it yourself.

Please be aware that if you ride the bike without air in the tires the rim will be damaged, and you will have to pay for the repair.

  • No, but it should be! You choose yourself, but wearing a helmet drastically reduces the risk of head damage if you fall. You might not be used to riding one at home, but riding on flat surface with good road quality in the city is way different than riding in the Norwegian Fjords.

If you don't have one with you, you can borrow one from us.

  • No, in most cases you don't.

Normally you are with the bike the whole time during your trip. If you plan on leaving the bike somewhere while you are hiking or staying overnight you can borrow a lock from us.

If you have a full day rental and want to take a break, its no problem to leave it with us and pick it up again later in the day. (just remember to tell us that you are coming back again for it, so we dont rent it out again)...

  • No, insuring the bikes for damages is so expensive that we would have to double our prices to pay it. So instead you are responsible for your own bike during the ride. Don't worry about worn brake pads, small scratches or if its dirty when you are returning it. But if you break something with intent, abnormal wear of tires (skidding all the way from Vatnahalsen back to Flåm) or loose the bike you will have to pay for it.

  • No, we do not insure you or your belongings on the ride. We strongly recommend to have your own travel insurance when visiting Norway.
